Women & Mothers circles

Today, many of us carry the same desire our foremothers felt: a longing for some place where nothing is required of us but our presence, a space to simply be, and from there, to (re)discover what is true.

We usually have plenty of spaces to network, to perform, to achieve. What’s missing is a place for the real work: the ongoing unlearning of who we have been taught to be, the laying down of the masks and roles we have learned to wear, so we can make space for our essence to come through.

When nothing is asked of us but our presence, something deeper can unfold, not through doing, but through being.

In the circles I facilitate, we create a space where we can sit as equals, share in sacred silence, and speak from the heart. It is an opportunity to be seen and met as we are.

We gather every six weeks in Bilbao, Getxo or Uribe Kosta, exploring a different theme each time. Depending on your season of life, interests, and needs, you can join the women's circle, the mothers' circle, or both, and bring your little one along.

What is the concept behind circles and the Red Tent?

For generations, women gathered in Red Tents: a sacred space to come together and to offer and receive support. During menstruation, but also in times of worry, sorrow, or exhaustion, women held space for one another. It was a place to feel safe, embrace our femininity, share what was often left unspoken, and remember that we did not have to carry everything alone.

Over time, this meaning was distorted. What was once a space of connection became associated with shame, separation, and the idea that women were somehow less capable or powerful while bleeding. A privilege became a limitation.

Today, we are reclaiming the Red Tent, returning to its original purpose while expanding its meaning to welcome women at any stage of their cycle and lives.

FAQ

I have never been before and don't know anyone, can I still join?

Of course! You are very welcome to join, even if you’ve never been before and don’t know anyone yet. In fact, most women arrive on their own, and many say that this made it easier to simply be open and meet new people.

The circle is structured, so you’re never left wondering who to talk to or expected to make conversation. You’ll be guided into connection naturally, at your own pace, and there’s no need to know anyone beforehand.

Do I have to share or speak?

Absolutely not. Sharing is always an invitation and listening in itself is a full form of participation.

My English or Spanish isn't very good. Is that a problem?

Not at all. The circles are mainly held in English, with basic Spanish translation available whenever needed. Spanish speakers are warmly welcome. You don’t need to be fluent in English to take part.

The circles can be a beautiful bridge between what feels familiar and comfortable to you, and that which is new. You can meet the experience from wherever you are and let yourself be curious about what unfolds.

And perhaps you’ll notice that even when you don’t fully understand something in words, there is another kind of communication happening beyond language, through presence, feeling and the body.

What if my baby cries or needs attention during the mother circle?

The circle is a space where everything that arises is embraced, including the sounds and needs of your child. It can actually be an invitation to experience that you don’t have to leave any part of yourself, or your motherhood, at the door.

You don’t have to worry about disturbing the group. Often, other mothers are more than happy to offer a helping hand. Come just as you are, baby and all.
